Syracuse Orange commit Kiyan Anthony has praised his father, Carmelo Anthony, for his milestone achievement. On Sunday, Sept. 7, the young guard reposted an Instagram upload by @hoophall on his story, showing his father, and included a one-word message.
The post showed Carmelo during his recent induction speech as he was named a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in the class of 2025. Anthony is one of the headliners of the class, alongside the likes of 2020 NBA champion Dwight Howard and the 2008 Team USA men’s basketball Olympics team, which he was a part of.
“Legendary,” Kiyan Anthony captioned.

Carmelo Anthony went on to become an NBA All-Star, named to the selection a total of 10 times, and is hailed by many as one of the greatest scorers of all time. Before his illustrious NBA career, Carmelo also won the 2003 NCAA championship with his Syracuse Orange squad. That was the only time the Orange won the NCAA title.

Kiyan Anthony On Carmelo Anthony’s Hall Of Fame Induction
In a video posted by @PlayersTribune on X/Twitter on Friday, Sept. 5, Kiyan Anthony put out a heartfelt message for his father, Carmelo, for his Hall of Fame induction.
Kiyan Anthony was recorded on the video, presumably through a phone call, and talked about how the older Anthony has always inspired him with his work ethic and knack for becoming great.
“Yo pops, it’s Kiy’. You’ve been a Hall of Famer to me my whole life. All of that hard work. Every day, you grinding. Nobody seeing you work as hard as you do. Everybody take you for granted. It doesn’t go unnoticed, I’ve seen everything and I appreciate you for paving the way for me, taking on this next legacy. I know I’m in good hands because you gonna be right by my side,” Kiyan Anthony said (0:15).
“I just want to tell you how proud I am. Seeing you get inducted into the Hall of Fame means everything to me. I appreciate you for everything. So, keep going and getting better. Love you, pops,” he concluded.
