Former Arkansas PG Boogie Fland has made his decision. The McDonald’s All-American will be moving to Gainesville after officially transferring to Florida. Fland was at one point considered a one-and-done NBA hopeful, but after withdrawing from the 2025 NBA Draft, he is jumping back into college basketball.
Despite missing two months due to a hand injury last season, Fland managed to average 13.5 points, 5.1 assists, and 1.5 steals for John Calipari’s Razorbacks. Now with Walter Clayton Jr., Will Richard, and Alijah Martin all gone, Fland will fill the void in Todd Golden’s backcourt.

Analyst Says Boogie Fland Could Power Florida’s National Title Repeat
College basketball insider Jon Rothstein didn’t wait for Boogie Fland’s announcement to drop an audacious prediction. Just hours before Fland’s commitment, Rothstein all but prophesied what was about to shake the college hoops world.

“I firmly expect Arkansas transfer Boogie Fland… to commit to the Gators this week and sign with the Gators this week,” Rothstein declared. But it wasn’t just about the signing, it was also about what it would mean.
The Gators are coming off a national championship run. And now, they are undergoing a major transformation. Most of their starting backcourt will no longer be seen in the upcoming season. And that’s exactly why Boogie Fland’s timing is perfect.
Fland’s playmaking and scoring ability give Golden the dynamic guard the Gators need. But as Rothstein pointed out, this team could be the winning one only if another man decides to withdraw from the NBA Draft and return.
As Rothstein writes on X, “Florida will be a top-five team to start the 2025-26 season if it lands Arkansas transfer Boogie Fland and gets Alex Condon back.” Jon Rothstein went on to paint a very vivid picture.
With Fland running point, Princeton transfer Xaivian Lee sharing the backcourt, and frontcourt beasts like Rueben Chinyelu and Thomas Haugh returning, all that was left was Alex Condon. If all of it goes as planned, as Rothstein put it, “That, to me, is Final Four good. That, to me, is a team, again, that will start next season in the top five.”
Rothstein also went on to add, “You’re looking at Florida potentially starting three of the front-court players who were a part of last year’s team that won a national championship—Houck, Condon, Cheneyloo—with Lee and Fland in the backcourt.” A starting five consisting of Fland, Lee, Haugh, Chinyelu, and possibly Condon could be the best starting five in the nation.
Of course, there are concerns about Boogie Fland and Xaivian Lee’s overlapping ball dominance, but that’s also overstated. The duo can relieve each other, creating a potent backcourt that makes Florida as scary offensively as it is defensively.
Jon Rothstein also mentioned how, “you never know what can happen when name, image, and likeness is involved.” And rightly so, because Fland’s deal with Florida likely isn’t just about basketball. It is a big money business.
According to CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander, the former five-star recruit is set to receive an NIL package of nearly $2 million. That puts Boogie Fland among the most valuable players in the country. He also has an On3 NIL Valuation of $1.4 million. Fland is also No. 21 among men’s college basketball athletes and No. 60 overall.
The money was there, sure, but reports also say Fland turned down even higher offers elsewhere. But why is that?
Well, Fland seems to have faith in the system that turned Walter Clayton Jr. into a Final Four MOP and likely first-round pick. With Boogie Fland in orange and blue, the Gators have repositioned themselves as the team to beat once again.
The Final Four is no longer just a goal but an expectation from the Gators. And Jon Rothstein called it before the ink even dried.
