As he did in life, Charlie Kirk has still divided the nation in his death. However, despite the widespread condemnation that the infamous right-wing activist had garnered in life, many agreed that violence was not the answer.
This includes Nikola Jokic’s former teammate and Brooklyn Nets star Michael Porter Jr., who shared his thoughts on Kirk’s demise on Instagram.
“RIP to Charlie smh… I never watched his stuff but nobody deserves to die like that. Man had a wife and kids… He was killed for sharing his opinions and giving others the opportunity to share theirs as well. this is sad man… praying for the family!” he wrote.
Charlie Kirk, who infamously stated that gun violence is acceptable in his argument for gun rights, was shot in the neck as he was speaking at a political event in Utah. Both Republicans and Democrats condemned his killing.
The far-right activist recently raised eyebrows after he called on Taylor Swift to ‘submit’ to her husband, Travis Kelce after the duo’s engagement. He was an ally of Donald Trump and infamously flipped on his call to release the Epstein Files because of the president’s connection with the late child sex trafficker.
As for Porter, he signed a five-year $172.55 contract with the Denver Nuggets in 2021. He was part of the 2023 Denver Nuggets championship team alongside Nikola Jokic. He was traded by the Nuggets to the Brooklyn Nets for Cam Johnson in 2025.
Michael Porter Jr. contract is worth $38.3 million this season and $40.8 million in 2026-27.
Nikola Jokic’s Former Teammate Michael Porter Jr. May Be Swapping Houses With Cam Johnson
After the Michael Porter Jr.- Cam Johnson trade, Michael Porter Jr. revealed that he is actually friends with the man he got traded with, Cam Johnson. After the trade, he revealed that the two have talked with one another and even discussed that they should just swap houses.
“It’s crazy because me and Cam are actually boys,” the new Nets forward stated. “We’re pretty cool. We’re even having talks of swapping homes. He might stay at my crib in Denver. I might stay where he lived in Brooklyn.”
Porter Jr. also noted that the Nuggets are getting a great player and that he is excited to “expand” his game once he arrives in New York City to play for the Nets. The forward averaged 18.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.5 blocks per game for the Nuggets last season.
