After John Calipari, Rick Pitino’s Strong Words, NCAA President Charlie Baker Issues Major Decision

The NCAA is facing a lot of heat at the moment. There has been a huge controversy around NCAA eligibility and age limits on signing players. Big names in college basketball and some of the greatest coaches have called out the organization. Both John Calipari and Rick Pitino have complained about the lack of rules in college basketball.

Calipari had an outburst about the Baylor Bears signing an NBA draftee, James Nnaji. He slammed the NCAA for not having specific rules and emphasized the fact that the lack of rules would be extremely detrimental to the high school kids’ progress.

Calipari also shared how much he loves shaping young careers and seeing them succeed. Additionally, he issued a warning that if this continues, no coach would recruit high school student-athletes and just sign professionals from the NBA, G League, Europe, and more.

Rick Pitino recently took to his X and shared his take on the entire situation. He said how it no longer seems like college basketball. Pitino added that he feels it has become professional basketball with budgets that rival the Euroleague.

“Unfortunately, the game I’ve been in for over 40 years no longer exists,” Pitino said.

Now, NCAA president Charlie Baker has announced a big NCAA decision.

“The NCAA will not grant eligibility to prospective or returning student athletes who have signed an NBA contract,” Charlie Baker announced.

This would improve a lot of things that both Rick Pitino and John Calipari complained about and demanded change for the betterment of college basketball.
