John Calipari Talks About Recruiting Duke’s Cayden And Cameron Boozer; Looks Forward to “Hard Game” vs Jon Scheyer’s Team

Arkansas Razorbacks coach John Calipari recently discussed the Duke Blue Devils regarding their tactician and a pair of freshmen standouts. On Tuesday, Nov. 25, Calipari appeared on collegiate hoops analyst Jon Rothstein’s show on CBS Sports. In a clip posted on @cbsportscbb’s Instagram, Calipari is asked about Duke’s coach Jon Scheyer and the Boozer twins, Cameron and Cayden.

Calipari said he is aware of how challenging a matchup it will be against coach Scheyer and the rest of his 2025-26 Blue Devils, given their talented players. This includes Cameron and Cayden Boozer, who are the twin sons of former NBA All-Star and Duke legend Carlos Boozer. Calipari acknowledged the cohesion of the current crop of Blue Devils.

“Duke’s gonna be a hard game. Now the Boozer brothers, you know, we recruited them. I know how good they are. The Evans kid, the way they shoot it. Big Patrick, I recruited him, I know how good he is. They got a bunch of guys that are really talented and really big lengthwise, you know, obviously can shoot it, play pretty like organized, and they’re a pretty new team,” Calipari shared.

“John Calipari told Jon Rothstein he knows Thursday’s matchup with Duke will be a big test for the Razorbacks,” @cbsportscbb wrote on Instagram.

Calipari and his Razorbacks are set to face Scheyer, the Boozer twins, and the rest of the Blue Devils on Thursday, Nov. 27, in the CBS Sports Thanksgiving Classic in the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. They are looking to improve on their 5-1 record, which has placed them as the No. 1 overall seed in the SEC. The Blue Devils, meanwhile, are undefeated with a 7-0 standing.

John Calipari Says The 2025-26 Duke Blue Devils Are Sticking To The Same System As Last Year

In the same interview, John Calipari detailed that, by his observation, the Blue Devils have a similar game plan in place as the 2024-25 campaign. This can be attributed to the fact that this is the Duke program’s fourth year under the tutelage of Scheyer after numerous decades of being coached by the legendary Mike Krzyzewski.

Nevertheless, Calipari’s focus remains on winning his first NCAA title since 2012.

“Yeah, they lost it a lot last year, but they’re playing organized similar to last year. The same kind of stuff they did, but it is, you know, they’re playing to their strengths. I can tell you that,” Calipari said.
