John Andrzejek, Campbell University’s newly appointed head men’s basketball coach, is rapidly forming his coaching staff to launch a new era for the Fighting Camels. An important addition to his staff is Alex Hill, who will serve as the Director of Basketball Operations.
Hill’s hire not only reunites Andrzejek and Hill, but also connects two colleagues in which they both spent time together at Washington State University, with their mutual respect and history creating a great chance for collaboration at Campbell.
Reunion at Campbell: The Tweet That Sparked Interest
The news of Hill’s appointment was first reported by college basketball insider Jeff Goodman, who tweeted:
New Campbell coach John Andrzejek will hire Alex Hill as his Director of Basketball Operations.
Hill was an assistant coach at Waynesburg University last season, and was a manager at Washington State when Andrzejek worked there as an assistant.

This tweet showcased the professional accomplishments of both people, noting they worked together at Washington State. Hill has shown dedication to the sport already as a graduate assistant at Waynesburg University for the 2024-25 season, and is now poised to take on this role at Campbell.
Their reunion at Campbell signifies a strategic move by Andrzejek to build a cohesive and experienced coaching staff, aiming to revitalize the program and achieve new heights in collegiate basketball.
Andrzejek’s Vision for Campbell
John Andrzejek’s coaching experience has been impactful. He had a successful career as an assistant coach of the Gators and helped the Gators win a national championship in 2025, so eventually being named head coach of Campbell’s men’s basketball team, on March 20, 2025 was a significant achievement.
Before Florida, Andrzejek served as an assistant coach at Washington State, Dartmouth, Johns Hopkins, San Francisco, and Columbia, which shows his diverse coaching experience. Working at Washington State, Andrzejek was an assistant coach with Alex Hill, who was a team manager for the 2006-07 season for then head coach Tony Bennett.
Ironically, this season was remarkable for the Cougars for two reasons; they qualified for the NCAA Tournament and Bennett won the Naismith Coach of the Year award that season.
Having come to Campbell, Andrzejek plans to reenergize the program that has not been to an NCAA Tournament since 1992. By bringing in known and trusted figures like Hill, he is establishing the foundation of a staff that will work closely together, and create a team that will be productive and successful.
