What Happened to Jalon Moore? Oklahoma Star’s NBA Draft Plans Derailed by Injury

It is one of the most important times in Jalon Moore’s life. The former Oklahoma star is getting ready for the 2025 NBA draft. If he is selected, his basketball career and life could change forever. Moore is the No. 63-ranked prospect in the draft, according to ESPN, and as a result, was viewed as a borderline draft pick. However, bad news came out on Saturday that could affect his chances of being drafted.

On Saturday morning, analyst Jonathan Givony tweeted that Moore reportedly tore his achilles in a pre-draft workout in San Antonio. The exact day of the injury was not specified, but he had surgery the day after and is expected to make a full recovery.

“NEWS: Oklahoma’s Jalon Moore – ESPN No. 63 ranked prospect – tore his achilles tendon in a pre-draft workout in San Antonio, agent Mike Silverman of Equity Sports confirmed to ESPN. Moore had successful surgery the following day and is expected to make a full recovery,” the tweet read.

While it is good news that Moore is going to fully recover from his injury, it could still have a negative effect on his draft stock. Achilles injuries are serious and can often have long-lasting effects on a player’s mobility. As a result, there could be some teams that choose not to draft Moore over other options because they are concerned he will not be as effective after his injury.

Jalon Moore’s Agent Comments on His Injury

Jalon Moore will still be available for teams to draft, but his odds of being drafted have likely dropped significantly. Jonathan Givony tweeted a quote from Moore’s agent, Mike Silverman, about his client’s injury:

“We’re truly heartbroken for Jalon. It’s time to revamp the NBA pre-draft process. Flying around the country to perform intense competitive workouts exposes players to risk of major injuries. No other pro sports league puts their draft prospects in this position.”

Jalon Moore played four seasons in college before declaring for the NBA draft. He played his last two seasons with the Oklahoma Sooners. In his senior year this past season, he broke out, averaging 15.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.
