Klay Thompson and Ja Morant recently got into an ugly exchange after the Mavs lost to the Grizzlies 96-102. Just as the game ended, Morant interrupted a teammate’s post-game interview and chimed in with a hyped reply, calling out Thompson.
Morant took a jab at Thompson by talking about the best shooter on the court and how it wasn’t the former Warriors star. This led to a confrontation between the two. Morant waved a finger at Klay’s face, and the Mavs star slapped his hand down. Tempers flared, the situation escalated, and team members had to intervene to cool things down.
Klay hit back at Ja after the game and gave him a harsh reality check. Analyst Robin Lundberg recently reacted to the entire fiasco and gave his two cents.
“He nailed it. I mean, like, he couldn’t almost said it any better. And look, that’s the truth. Those are facts from Klay Thompson. There’s one thing when it’s injury, and that was always a concern to me about Ja Morant early in his career because his game was predicated so much on explosive athleticism,” Robin said.
Lundberg then explained how Morant has struggled with injuries due to his playing style, while also recalling his recent, albeit controversial, past.
“He took away his own game in a sense. And that goes back to the Instagram live he did that, you know, where he’s flashing the thing, you know, whatever the gun, toy gun, whatever it was, right? Like flashing it on Instagram. And to me, that almost screamed like a cry for help. Because no one could be that dumb,” the analyst added.
“And you know, he basically doubled down in the midst of all of that and then had his confrontation with the Grizzlies coaches early this year w with his comments and what he had to say. So, you know, that’s the lack of accountability that Klay Thompson was talking about. And we’re now at the point with Ja Morant where he is more known for antics than ability, which is sad because this was, you know, shoe line, uh, you know, you would see him in highlight reels, all that stuff,” he continued.
Klay Thompson Slams Ja Morant
Klay did not hold back on voicing his opinion about Morant after his altercation with the Grizzlies star.
Klay started by mockingly calling Ja a funny guy. He said:
“He has a lot to say all the time, especially for a guy who rarely takes accountability.”
Thompson added that Ja had nothing intelligent to say and was just talking nonsense.
“He’s been running his mouth for a long time and it’s funny to run your mouth when you’re on the bench. It’s kind of the story of his career so far just leaving us wanting more,” Klay said.
He also mentioned that everyone wants Morant to do his best on the court and that the NBA needs its best players to perform at the highest level. He claimed that he considers Morant a star and hates to see his potential go to waste.
