The Truth About Justin Pippen and Scottie Pippen’s Family Ties

Justin Pippen is the son of NBA legend Scottie Pippen, the Hall of Famer best known for winning six championships with the Chicago Bulls during their 1990s dynasty. Born on July 11, 2005, in California, Justin is one of four children Scottie shares with Larsa Pippen, a television personality known for her appearances on The Real Housewives of Miami.

After one season at Michigan, the 6’3″ guard has committed to transfer to the University of California, according to On3’s Joe Tipton. He will have three years of eligibility remaining.

Scottie and Larsa married in 1997. Their children include Scotty Jr., Preston, Justin, and Sophia. Although Scottie filed for divorce in 2016, he later withdrew the petition. Larsa filed again in 2018, and the divorce was finalized in 2021.

In total, Scottie Pippen has seven children from different relationships.

Justin followed in his father’s footsteps on the basketball court, spending his high school years at Sierra Canyon in Los Angeles. He earned recognition as a four-star recruit and was ranked No. 77 nationally and the No. 16 point guard in the 2024 class by Rivals.

ESPN and Rivals both listed him at No. 73, while 247Sports placed him at No. 62.

In April 2024, Pippen committed to play college basketball at the University of Michigan, selecting the Wolverines over offers from Florida, Stanford, California, and Texas A&M. He became the first high school recruit signed by head coach Dusty May after May’s arrival at Michigan.

In his freshman season, he contributed to Michigan’s Big Ten Tournament championship in 2025, which secured the team’s automatic NCAA tournament berth.

Pippen’s pre-collegiate resume includes winning the CIF Southern Section Boys Basketball Breakout Player award in 2024.

Now headed to Cal, Pippen joins a Golden Bears team that finished 14-19 in its inaugural season as an ACC member.

He is the fourth transfer to join Cal this offseason and the third backcourt addition, alongside former Virginia point guard Dai Dai Ames and ex-Campbell guard Nolan Dorsey.
