Jace Howard played for the Michigan Wolverines until this offseason, when he entered the transfer portal. He has since committed to Fordham to play his last year of college basketball. There was another Howard in the corridors of Michigan between 2019 and 2024.
Jace has played 70 games in his college career, averaging 1.4 points and 0.9 rebounds in 6.8 minutes per game. His best season came during the 2022-23 campaign when he appeared in 30 games.

Juwan Howard is a retired NBA player and is currently an assistant coach for the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He previously served as the head coach of the Michigan Wolverines men’s team from 2019 to 2024 before joining the Nets in 2024.
Juwan Howard has six children, one of whom is Jace, whom he gave born in September 2001. Jace, a former three-star prospect in the 2020 recruiting cycle, committed to Michigan shortly after his father accepted the job with his alma mater. The Senior Howard was fired in 2024, but Jace stayed before transferring out this year.

Jace played in just five games for Michigan last season under new coach Dusty May and is using a medical redshirt to play his final college year with Fordham. Howard’s younger brother, Jett, played the 2022-23 season at Michigan before being a first-round pick (11th overall) of the Magic in the 2023 draft.
Juwan Howard was part of Michigan’s Fab Five recruiting class of 1991 that reached the finals of the NCAA tournament in 1992 and 1993. After one season as an All-Rookie player and a second as an All-Star and an All-NBA performer, he became the first NBA player to sign a $100 million contract. He won the NBA championship in 2012 and 2013.

As a coach, Howard won the AP National Coach of the Year and Big Ten Coach of the Year. He became the second Michigan basketball coach to earn honors for AP National Coach of the Year. Howard also became the first coach to earn a No.1 seed as a player and coach, after the Wolverines secured a No.1 seed in the 2021 NCAA Tournament.
