Is Anthony Davis Playing Tonight? Latest injury Update on Mavericks Star Ahead of Knicks Matchup

Dallas Mavericks star Anthony Davis has been a big topic of conversation this season. After being part of the infamous Luka Doncic trade last season, Davis has failed to stay healthy as a member of the Mavericks. Last season, he only appeared in nine games after the trade, which resulted in Dallas failing to qualify for the playoffs.

This season has not been very different for Davis. He has only appeared in five of the Mavs’ first 15 games, and as a result, the team is 4-11. Dallas will need to continue to play without its star big man on Wednesday when it takes on the New York Knicks.

Davis is dealing with a left calf strain and will continue to be out on Wednesday. On Sunday, the Mavericks announced that Davis will be out at least another seven to 10 days while he recovers from his calf strain. Davis last appeared in a 125-92 loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Oct. 22. Head coach Jason Kidd spoke about Davis on Sunday.

“He wants to be out there to help us,” Jason Kidd said. “But this gives him seven to 10 days to get better or to get stronger. Hopefully, in seven to 10 days, he’s back on the floor.”

Davis initially targeted the team’s Nov. 8 game against Washington as his return date. However, his recovery has not gone as expected, and his return has been delayed.

Anthony Davis Is Back on the Trade Block

It has been less than a year since the blockbuster trade that sent Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers and Anthony Davis to the Dallas Mavericks. Despite that, Davis is back on the trade block. With the Mavericks struggling to start the season, reports started to come out on Wednesday indicating that the Mavs will explore the trade market for Anthony Davis.

“Anthony Davis is expected to be shopped as the Dallas Mavericks shift toward the future and plan to build around Cooper Flagg.”

This announcement comes not long after the Mavericks fired general manager Nico Harrison on Nov. 11. Under new management, the Mavericks will try to rebuild their team around No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg and the other young talent on their roster. Trading Davis would mark the end of one of the most controversial moves in NBA history.
