The Charlotte Hornets have been struggling over the last few years, and they have the chance to turn things around with their No. 4 pick. The team, which NBA great Michael Jordan has a minority share of, has its eyes on three players for the pick, though two of them chose to not work out with the squad.
Ace Bailey and VJ Edgecombe are two possible picks for the Hornets, with Bailey being the possible No. 3 pick, while Edgecombe is the probable No. 4. However, neither of them have worked out with the team, and only Kon Knueppel has reportedly worked out with the Hornets.
For now, there is a lot of drama surrounding Bailey, especially as the Rutgers guard has been ignoring teams left and right and has been rubbing a lot of teams the wrong way. As for Edgecombe, the Bahamian has been on the rise because of Bailey’s unorthodox draft strategy of not working out with teams and ignoring them. He may rise to become the No. 3 pick during this Wednesday’s draft, leaving the Hornets to pick either Bailey or Knueppel.
This has given rise to a lot of speculations from fans on the internet, as other top prospects like Jeremiah Fears have also reportedly refused to work out with the team. One reddit post has also claimed that one prospect is refusing to work out with the Hornets because of LaMelo Ball.
There were plenty of speculations on who that prospect was, with one claiming it might be VJ Edgecombe, while another claimed it might be Jeremiah Fears, as he and LaMelo Ball are both point guards.
Which player might the Charlotte Hornets draft at No. 4?
With all the drama surrounding Ace Bailey, it is more than likely that the Rutgers guard will slide down the draft and be picked much later than he originally was predicted to go, which is Philadelphia, as the No. 3 pick. The question is, will the Hornets pick him up should the Sixers choose Edgecombe instead? Probably not, as the Hornets may be one of those teams that Bailey and his agent have been rubbing the wrong way.
As for Edgecombe, this may only happen if the Sixers choose Bailey or surprise many with a different pick like Tre Johnson. He may even work well with Ball and be a good pickup for Charlotte.
As for Kon Knueppel, the Duke star will also provide a solid pick for the Hornets. With him being the only one who has worked out with the team may also mean that Charlotte can pick him earlier than many expected.
