NBA legend Gilbert Arenas‘ ex-girlfriend, Laura Govan, recently uploaded a photo of their son, Alijah, sharing a candid moment with former NBA star Matt Barnes. On Monday, Oct. 6, Laura posted a photo to her Instagram stories that shows 2017 NBA champion Barnes being captured with USC Trojans guard Alijah.
The photo was taken as Laura Govan was one of the participants in the Team Watson’s Annual Celebrity Charity Softball Game, held on Sunday at the Cal State University Northridge Baseball Field.
This prompted Alijah Arenas and Matt Barnes to link up and greet each other as the two were seen embracing. Both were spectators for the softball showcase. Laura wrote a message that acknowledged their connection.
“@alijah0arenas UNC in real life @matthewkbarnes,” Govan captioned.
Alijah Arenas is nursing a knee injury that would require surgery, as announced in July of this year. This means that Arenas is set to miss the next 6-8 months, presumably his whole freshman year of college basketball, in the upcoming 2025-26 season for coach Eric Musselman’s Trojans. This is much to the dismay of Gilbert Arenas, Laura Govan, and Matt Barnes, as they were all keen on seeing him perform in college.
Gilbert and Barnes are hosts of their own podcasts. Gilbert Arenas hosts a show called ‘Gil’s Arena.’ Meanwhile, Barnes co-hosts the well-known ‘All The Smoke’ podcast with NBA veteran Stephen Jackson. Laura Govan and the rest of the USC faithful will now look forward to the return of Alijah Arenas next year.

Laura Govan Uploads A Photo Of Herself And Alijah Arenas From The Watson Celebrity Charity Softball Game
Along with posting Matt Barnes’ photo with her son on her Instagram stories, Laura Govan uploaded a photo she took with Alijah Arenas.
In the photo, the mother-son duo is seen holding up ‘peace signs’ as they are both wearing all-black outfits. This is the look Laura went with, as seen in her other clips of competing in the softball exhibition game. Alijah Arenas went with a shirt of the USC Trojans.
“No matter what, he always shows up @alijah0arenas @creativenlb5,” Govan wrote with a red heart emoji.
