Memphis Tigers
After losing 78-70 to Colorado in the first round of this year’s NCAA tournament, Penny Hardaway has lost a few of his players to the transfer portal, and he has to look to the same portal to seek replacements. The Tigers showed interest in Powell before he committed to Georgetown, and he could still be an option.
Xavier
When Richard Pitino was appointed Xavier’s head coach, he knew the task ahead for him and his coaching staff, and they almost immediately set about recruiting players. A few weeks later, he has nearly assembled his complete roster for next season. Powell could fit right in because he still has a few pieces that need addressing.
Texas Longhorns
The Longhorns lost several players to the portal, including forward Devon Pryor, who transferred to Oregon. Head coach Sean Miller had already recruited forward John Clark, who had signed his letter of intent. Clark doesn’t have the experience Powell has, but Powell could be an option for Miller in Texas.
Baylor
Baylor has lost virtually its entire active roster from the 24/25 season and must rebuild the program from scratch. Head coach Scott Drew and his staff are trying to revive the program by actively signing transfers and looking to fill the roster spot by spot. With the deadline only a few days away, Powell might find a new home with Baylor.
Georgia Tech
With the deadline only a few days away, Powell’s option of spending his last year of college eligibility at Georgia Tech is valid.
