Creighton F Mason Miller Transfers to Murray State, Joins Uncle, New HC Ryan Miller

In a significant development for the Murray State Racers, Mason Miller, son of two-time NBA champion Mike Miller, has officially transferred to join the Racers after three seasons with the Creighton Bluejays, according to On3.

The sharpshooting 6’9″ forward, who led the Big East in three-point percentage (45.4%) during the 2023-24 season, makes this pivotal move following a challenging year marked by a leg injury and shooting struggles that impacted his performance. The timing couldn’t be more ideal as Mason’s uncle, Ryan Miller, was recently appointed as Murray State’s head coach this week.

Mason Miller’s Journey From Prospect to Proven Talent

Mason Miller arrived at Creighton as a consensus Top-75 recruit in 2021, choosing the Bluejays over prestigious programs such as Indiana, Ohio State, and Memphis.

His development culminated in a breakout 2023-24 campaign, during which he started all 33 games and established himself as the conference’s premier three-point shooter.

However, the 2024-25 campaign unexpectedly saw Miller struggle to find his rhythm after being injured. His three-point shooting dropped to 17.1%, making only 7 of 41 shots with a mere 1.1 points and 1.6 rebounds per game.

Basketball excellence runs deep in Mason’s family. His father, Mike, enjoyed a decorated 17-year NBA career, winning championships with the Miami Heat in 2012 and 2013. He now runs Lift Sports Management, representing stars like Ja Morant.

The Murray State connection extends beyond family ties. The program famously produced Ja Morant, who is represented by Mike Miller’s agency. While Mason’s move isn’t directly linked to Morant, it adds another interesting layer to the Miller family’s relationship with the Racers.

    Revitalizing Murray State Basketball

Ryan Miller’s appointment as Murray State’s 18th head coach marks a new chapter for the program after a 16-17 season under former coach Steve Prohm. Known for his recruiting expertise and high-efficiency offensive system, Ryan could be the perfect coach to help Mason rediscover his elite shooting form.
