Mo Dioubate has been a Kentucky fan his whole life, saying that it is his “dream school.” Now, he is living his dream of playing for the Wildcats, admitting that he grew up idolizing them since he was a kid in Queens. He was only 13 when the squad headlined by De’Aaron Fox, Bam Adebayo, and Malik Monk dominated the NCAA, leading him to become a lifelong Cats fan.
The former Alabama standout spoke with the BBN Tonight regarding finally donning the Kentucky blue and white, and he is still on a high:
“Since I was a kid, Kentucky was my dream school. A lot of people don’t know that. Kentucky was my dream school. To wear the jersey and to play with it, it’s like the best thing that could have happened to me so far in my life,” Mo Dioubate told BBN Tonight.
“I always tell guys, don’t ever think you can’t achieve a goal or something. I even doubted myself for a while. I didn’t think I could play here. I didn’t think I was able to coming out of high school with the schools I was offered, where I was projected. I just can’t wait to put the jersey on and play in front of the fans.” he added.
“I was there by myself, and I was thinking, ‘Damn, I’m really here. It really happened. It still feels like a dream sometimes,” he concluded.

The New York native averaged 7.2 points,. 5.9 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game on 61.7% shooting for the Crimson Tide during his sophomore season. He contributed to Alabama’s Elite Eight run last March, including dropping 18 points against RMU in the second round.
Kentucky players happy with Mo Dioubate coming to Lexington
When he was still in Alabama, Mo Dioubate was a menace for Kentucky, with the former Crimson Tide star helping his former school knock off his “dream school” from the SEC tournament. Now that he is in Kentucky, several Wildcats players were relieved.
“It’s gonna be lovely,” said Kentucky Wildcats senior Otega Oweh. “I know what he brings, and I didn’t like playing against him, if I’m being honest. I know he’s gonna have that same effect on other people on other teams. It’s gonna be great. And he’s a great guy too.”
Dioubate was essential in holding Oweh to just two points on 1-9 shooting during the SEC tournament’s second round, with the former Alabama star being one of the best defenders in the conference.
