Jamir Watkins, a 6’6″ wing from Florida, has rapidly climbed NBA Draft boards following standout performances at both the NBA Draft Combine and CAA Pro Day. Once viewed as a possible second-round selection, Watkins distinguished himself as a major riser thanks to his elite athletic profile and two-way potential.
Watkins is drawing a lot of attention from NBA scouts. Known for his scoring ability, Watkins averaged 18.4 points per game last season with the Seminoles and is now one of the most coveted talents in the transfer portal.

Jamir Watkins Emerges As Top NBA Draft Riser After CAA Pro Day
Watkins, with a 6’11” wingspan, has quickly risen up draft boards following impressive showings at the 2025 NBA Draft Combine and CAA Pro Day.
Originally projected as a potential second-round pick, Watkins caught the attention of scouts with his physical traits and versatile skill set. His stock has skyrocketed after CAA Pro Day showings, where he averaged 18 points and six rebounds at Florida State.

Watkins’ athletic testing stood out, featuring a 37-inch max vertical jump (top 20 at the combine), an 11.19-second lane agility drill, a 3.21-second shuttle run, and a 3.14-second three-quarter sprint.
Watkins really showed his skills in the scrimmages, especially in his second game where he put up 23 points (17 in the first half), picked up four rebounds, four assists, five steals, and a block.
His defensive intensity, ability to create turnovers, and transition play were praised by media and scouts alike. Watkins’ shooting drills showed solid results, hitting 16 of 30 off-the-dribble shots, 16 of 25 spot-ups, and 18 of 25 in the three-point star drill.
Watkins, 24 now, can be possibly criticized due to his age and whether his consistency in terms of three-point shooting was throughout his college years. Nonetheless, his defensive versatility and shot creation have elicited the interest of multiple teams.
He had 18.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game after moving from VCU to Florida State, which earned him All-ACC Second Team honors.

His combine performance highlighted his ability to guard multiple positions, disrupt ballhandlers with his length, and execute in various offensive roles, including pick-and-rolls.
While a second-round selection is likely, Watkins could enhance his value with another college season or begin his professional career on a two-way contract, bringing immediate defensive energy and depth to an NBA roster.
