Former Arkansas standout Boogie Fland was on an official visit to Florida. While many already believed the Gators were the clear favorite to land this highly sought-after five-star recruit, no one expected a commitment to happen this fast. This breaking news is already making waves in the basketball community.
Fland was once projected as a lottery pick in the NBA Draft. However, an injury-filled season at Arkansas forced him to pause his professional dreams. Instead of heading to the NBA now, he’s chosen to join Florida, giving the national champions another top-level player as they chase back-to-back titles.

Boogie Fland Officially Commits to Florida
The Bronx-bred five-star guard initially declared for the 2025 NBA Draft, signaling his intent to turn pro. However, by choosing not to hire an agent, Fland kept his college eligibility intact. This allowed him to go through the draft evaluation process, get feedback from NBA teams, and decide whether to stay in the draft or return for another season.

However, after evaluating his chances, he withdrew from the draft and decided to transfer to Florida, joining the reigning national champions for his sophomore season.
According to Shams Charania, the former Arkansas guard has committed to Florida via the NCAA Transfer Portal. He spent Monday and Tuesday in Gainesville, and by Tuesday morning, news broke of his decision to become a Gator.
Fland, a 6’2″ guard, was a key player for Arkansas last season, averaging 13.5 points, 5.1 assists, and 3.2 rebounds despite missing 15 games due to a thumb injury. That injury occurred during Arkansas’ 83–65 loss to Missouri on January 18, ultimately sidelining him for the remainder of the season, including the NCAA Tournament.
If that injury hadn’t happened, we could’ve possibly seen him in an NBA team’s rookie camp this time around.
Given his ability to create shots and facilitate offense, it’s safe to say that the Gators are lucky to have him as a valuable addition to their backcourt, which already includes Princeton transfer Xaivian Lee. Now with him on the roster, the program is shaping up to be one of the strongest in the country.
