“Fire Nico” Chants Erupt at Mavs Draft Watch Party Despite Drafting Cooper Flagg at No. 1

The Dallas Mavericks should have been on a high after drafting Cooper Flagg at No. 1. However, the team’s fans are still not happy with general manager Nico Harrison, who was behind the widely unpopular Luka Doncic-Anthony Davis trade. The American Airlines Center in Dallas erupted with “Fire Nico!” chants as the Mavericks were on the dock and about to select Flagg for their No. 1 pick.

While Dallas fans are still celebrating that the Mavericks selected Flagg for their No. 1 pick, Harrison remains one of the most unpopular general managers in the NBA. Mavs fans have been voicing their opposition to the Luka Doncic-Anthony Davis trade ever since it was announced, and this was seen when the city turned up to see Luka return to Dallas in a Lakers jersey and gave him a warm welcome, all while booing Harrison.

Hoops Fans React to Dallas Mavericks Fans Chanting ‘Fire Nico’ Ahead of Cooper Flagg pick

The “Fire Nico” chants in Dallas have shown that fans were still displeased with the organization trading their most popular star player. This had some fans talking, but they were rather divided between those who agreed with the chants and those who did not.

“We standing on businesses those fn Nico and Dumont think we just gonna forgive cuz a rigged lottery,” one Dallas Mavericks fan said.

“Don’t think I will ever stop believing Silver orchestrated the whole thing to get Luka to the Lakers and Cooper was the payment,” another Hoops fan theorized.

“Legends. Great to see this fanbase is too intelligent to be fooled by this. Made my night.” another Nico Harrison critic commented.

Still, a lot of fans did not like those “Fire Nico” chants.

“Its getting embarrassing now. Move on nothing we can do but support whoa here,” said one fan.

“Them buying tickets to the arena for a watch party and to say this sums up the Dallas fanbase.” another fan pointed out.

“L so lame, in Nico we trust,” one person added.

As for Cooper Flagg, the former Duke star is seen as the future of the franchise. He now joins fellow Duke alum Kyrie Irving in Dallas and will wear the No. 32 jersey. His selection at No. 1 also means that the Mavs have three No. 1 draft picks playing for them, namely Flagg, Irving, and Anthony Davis.
