Finland vs Germany EuroBasket 2025: Prediction, Odds, and Key Matchups

The nations of Germany and Finland will have their eyes glued on when the two premier European basketball countries do battle in the 2025 EuroBasket. The game is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 3, and will take place in the Tampere Deck Arena in Tampere, Finland, with tip-off scheduled for 1:30 p.m. ET, as both teams are looking to get better placements in the standings heading into the tournament format of the championship.

Germany, led by the likes of Dennis Schroder, Franz Wagner, Isaac Bonga and Daniel Theis, boasts an undefeated 4-0 record to stand atop the standings of Group B. They are heading into the matchup after dismantling Great Britain by a staggering 63 points, 120-57, as they look to win the team’s second-ever gold medal in the European-based FIBA championship. Germany last won it all the way back in 1993.

Finland, which is spearheaded by 2023 NBA All-Star and Most Improved Player Lauri Markkanen, have uncorked a 3-1 record so far, good for third place in Group B standings. Their lone loss came tight, a three-point, 81-78, loss to Lithuania, which was their most recent game before heading into the Germany matchup. Lithuania is also tied with Finland with a similar 3-1 standing, but is placed as the second seed due to point differential.

Finland vs Germany: Key Matchups to Watch

Perhaps Lauri Markkanen’s unicorn-like skillset as a three-level scorer will be evenly matched with that of Franz Wagner’s, who is more likely to operate on the mid-range. Markkanen’s teammates, such as forwards Mikael Jantunen and Elias Valtoten, will have to step up to try and neutralize the frontcourt presence of the aforementioned Isaac Bonga and Daniel Theis.

This goes without saying, then that Finnish guards Sasu Salin, Miro Little and Edon Maxhuni will bring their A-game against 12-year NBA veteran Dennis Schroder, who is a proven winner in international competition, especially since he led Germany to the 2023 FIBA World Cup gold medal in Manila, Philippines.

    Finland vs Germany Odds

Per Pinnacle, Germany is slated to have the higher odds in winning their 2025 Eurobasket matchup against Finland and is the favorites to do so.

    • Moneyline: Finland (6.620), Germany (1.118)
    • Spread: Finland +13.0 (1.925), Germany -13.0 (-1.892)
    • Total: Over 183 (1.840), Under 183 (1.980)

    Finland vs Germany Prediction

Given that Germany holds a 4-2 head-to-head record over Finland, with all four of their wins coming more recently from 1988 all the way to 2023, coach Alex Mumbru’s squad has the momentum and confidence heading in the matchup against coach Lassin Tuovi’s team. This also bodes well with the fact that Germany is riding on their current undefeated record, with Finland reeling in a tight-knit loss just previously before the Wednesday game.

With Germany’s combination of depth, skill and poise, Dennis Schroder and Co. are likely to pull away with the victory from Finland as they will be too much to handle for Lauri Markkanen and Co. and head on over to the Round-of-16 format still with an unbeaten record.
