‘Better Than Luka’ to ‘Looks Like Shaggy’ – Fans Go Wild Over Cooper Flagg’s First Look in Mavericks Jersey

After Cooper Flagg got drafted to Dallas, the Mavericks have finally revealed what he would look like in a Mavs jersey. As expected, the former Duke Blue Devils star will be wearing the No. 32 jersey and will be keeping that goatee of his.

This got some mixed reaction from fans, with some of them expressing how hyped they are for Cooper Flagg playing for the Mavericks, while others made fun of how he looked.

“He looks like Shaggy from Scooby-Doo,” said one commenter.

“Gonna be better than Luka🔥,” one fan claimed.

“Why is he still wearing undershirts? NBA guys gotta tell him they don’t do that anymore,” another fan said.

There were a lot of comparisons to former Mavericks star Luka Doncic, who was traded for Anthony Davis in one of the most controversial trades in NBA history. However, others genuinely think he will do good in his rookie year in Dallas, with some even predicting he will win Rookie of the Year.

“Cooper Flagg is going to be rookie of the year and he’s going to be my favorite rookie to watch,” one fan boldly predicted.

“With Flagg and Klay, the Mavs might have the market cornered on the guys that look eternally stoned😂,” another X user joked.

“Me: Mum we want Luka Mum: We have Luka at home,” one fan joked.

Flagg is coming into Dallas with plenty of hype, especially after his stellar year with Duke, leading the Blue Devils to the Final Four last April, before ultimately falling to Houston. He averaged 18.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.3 blocks per game for Duke last season.

Cooper Flagg Finally Signs His Rookie Contract With the Dallas Mavericks

After drafting Cooper Flagg last week, the Dallas Mavericks made it official as the former Blue Devil signed his rookie contract. As a rookie, the Maine native is slated to receive a $13.8 million salary and a total of $62.7 million for his first four seasons in the NBA.

Dallas only had a 1.8% chance of getting the No. 1 draft pick for this year and were expected to only get No. 11. However, the Mavs, a team still getting widely criticized for the Luka Doncic trade, somehow won the draft lottery last May and used it to pick Flagg after his red-hot freshman year at Durham. He will team up with Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson and Anthony Davis in Dallas.
