Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry is getting backed by fans on social media after a controversial foul call in his most recent regular-season game. On Sunday, Dec. 28, Curry and the rest of coach Steve Kerr‘s 2025-26 Warriors squad matched up against coach Darko Rajakovic’s Toronto Raptors on the latter’s home court, the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario.
A clip uploaded by @sportscenter on Instagram shows Curry going for the game-winning shot. However, as Curry was going for a drive to the top of the key against Raptors guard Jamal Shead, he may have inadvertently swung his arms across his face, causing the referee to call an offensive foul on him.
“Steph had a chance to win it but was called for an offensive foul 😳,” @sportscenter wrote on Instagram.

Fans online were furious over the call as they deemed that Curry did not commit an offensive foul in his attempt to win the game.
“SGA gets away with everything in the NBA. Steph gets no calls at all. Wow! Refs hate Steph 😡,” one fan claimed with an angry emoji.

“How is this a foul? Dude literally put his head on the ball,” another fan shared.

“You can’t call that with the game on the line, the ball brushes the defender and he goes down 🤷♂️,” another user said with an emoji.

“Steph has the worst whistle in the league,” a fan commented.

Some users in the comments section felt otherwise, believing that Curry did enough for him to be merited with an offensive foul.
“I don’t understand how people don’t think this is an offensive foul 😭 . He caught him across the face,” one fan posted with a crying emoji.

“Y’all know by now this man ain’t clutch lol,” another user wrote.

“Warriors broadcast are such homers…Dude literally clocked him with an elbow,” a user pointed out.

Curry is in his 17th year in the league in the ongoing 2025-26 season. The 37-year-old is looking to win his fifth NBA championship in the current campaign, a feat that will have him surpass the likes of Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James in total number of NBA titles.
The Golden State Warriors Lose In Overtime Against The Toronto Raptors
It was an unfortunate end to a tightly-contested regular-season game for the Golden State Warriors against the Toronto Raptors, as after the game ultimately went into an extra period, Stephen Curry and company lost 141-127 to the home team in overtime.
It seems as though the Raptors took control after regulation, despite Curry dropping 39 points, but on an inefficient 12-of-30 clip.
