“NBA’s Arch Manning”: Fans Ridicule Cooper Flagg’s Lacklustre Preseason Display

Cooper Flagg played only one season with the Duke Blue Devils. In his freshman season, Flagg averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists. He was honored with multiple awards, including the Naismith and Wooden awards for best college player. Flagg led Duke to a 35-4 record in the regular season. Duke qualified for a Final Four appearance, where they faced Houston and lost 67-70.

Cooper Flagg declared for the NBA draft. The Mavs had already let go of their star player, Luka Doncic and shockingly, even for Doncic, he needed to find a new team. LeBron James’ Los Angeles Lakers traded in Luka Doncic. The Mavs also added Anthony Davis in that trade while also making space enough to draft Flagg. With Kyrie Irving already in, the Mavs are looking for a new look trio. And Dallas fans got a first glimpse of Cooper Flagg in action. Although Flagg played primarily as a center at Duke, Dallas tried out the freshman’s skills as a point guard.

Fans weren’t really impressed with Flagg’s debut despite some of the most outrageous moves from him yet. However, he did an average job with 3-13 and just 1 assist. There was however no doubt on his athleticism.

“3-13 in a preseason game? Yall done made the boy the NBA’s Arch Manning,” one fan compared the hypes around Cooper Flagg and Arch Manning.

“Dude at 11 and 1 assist on 3/13. Is that really cooking at PG,” another fan doubted Flagg’s debut.

“Wasn’t he like 3-13 though?” another fan wondered.

“Showed zero point guard highlights,” another left unimpressed.

“PG highlight with zero pass… smh,” another commented.

“Respectfully, bro is not a point guard,” one fan said.

“3-13 and cookin don’t really go hand in hand,” another wasn’t impressed.

“3/13 ain’t cookin,” one user commented.

    “23% fg btw,” another claimed.

“3/13 and 1 assist at point guard. Wow he was cooking,” another expressed sarcasm.

“I didn’t not see not one play that indicated he Played the PG position,” one fan replied.

    “Overrated,” another judged.

Can Dallas Mavericks get the best out of Cooper Flagg?

When the Mavs dropped Luka Doncic to draft Cooper Flagg, there were many negative opinions, as Luka Doncic was very public about his love for Dallas. However, now, after seeing Flagg excel at Duke and make himself at home in Dallas, people realise that Flagg is one for the future. At just 18, he looks strong, committed and extremely talented. But can he perform at his highest level?

Duke and the Mavericks play with 2 different brands of basketball. Flagg played center for Jon Scheyer at Duke, whereas he recently made a debut as a PG. Playing with Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis might have its own challenges. But it is safe to say that the freshman is in some elite company in Dallas. Fans will be looking forward to seeing how the trio turns up.
