On Sunday night facing the New Orleans Pelicans, Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green was seen having a spat with a Pelicans fan from the stands. The fan, who identified himself as Sam Green from New Orleans was seen taunting the Warriors star with chants of ‘Angel Reese’. This was right after Green had been called for a shooting foul while guarding Pelicans forward Herbert Jones.
The fan started calling Green with those chants after Green missed five straight shots and rebounded the first four. Game officials were quick to step in and intervene in this spat and to pull Green away from further confrontation. The fan, however, seemed more than amused by this exchange.
Draymond Green confronted a fan who called him “Angel Reese” after Draymond missed several shots and got his own rebounds. Win for the fan. This is 100% fair game. Players have gotten so soft, it’s embarrassing. pic.twitter.com/JMCHeRrLda

Green spoke to reporters after the game and explained his side of the story. “He just kept calling me a woman,” said Green, indicating how the fan was referring to him by Angel Reese’s name. “It was a good joke at first, but you can’t keep calling me a woman. I got four kids, one on the way. You can’t keep calling me a woman,” the Warriors star added.
The remark was made with regard to WNBA star and former LSU player Angel Reese setting several SEC and LSU rebounding records. The fan alleged Draymond Green screamed profanity at him and had threatened to punch him. The internet was quick to get hold of this incident, and the fans had some of the most hilarious reactions to this ordeal.
One fan wrote,
“I bet he [Draymond Green] wasn’t expecting the fan to be 6’7” tall when he first walked over to him. 😂”
Another fan added,
“I will be disappointed if fans don’t break out in “Ain-Gel Ree-ese” chants at upcoming games when Draymond goes to the free throw line.”
This fan wrote,
“‘As a black man, I cannot let black women be disrespected…’ Draymond on his next podcast.”
Another fan added,
“Let’s not overlook the fact that being called “Angel Reese” is an insult.”
This fan wrote,
“Too bad there’s not a video of him flipping out on all 5’2” of me when I had the misfortune of sitting next to him and I didn’t speak a single word to him leading up to the flip out draymond green is the worst”
Following this incident, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr had no comments so far. While Draymond Green is infamous for being an enforcer on the court, his altercations with fans have never really ended the right way. In 2022, Green was fined $25,000 by the league for directing ‘obscene language’ towards a fan. However, Green has been quite vocal and critical of fan behavior on the court, especially highlighting how fans can get away knowing players are the ones getting fined for reacting or engaging.
Draymond Green Calls Out Fans Criticizing Jonathan Kuminga’s Role
Jonathan Kuminga has come under much scrutiny and slander over past couple months. Recently, Kuminga signed a two-year extension contract with the Warriors. However, as of recently, Kuminga and Brandin Podziemski have been coming off the bench albeit their previous starter roles. While many speculated Kuminga was upset for this move, it was later revealed that the Warriors forward was dealing with bilateral knee tendinitis.
On the Draymond Green Show, the veteran Warriors star cleared all the air around Jonathan Kuminga. He said,
“Decisions are just kind of made, and you move on and you make the best decision that you think is going to put you in position to win. And so I found it very funny hearing a lot of people that never won and some losers say, ‘Oh man, he’s [Jonathan Kuminga] being scapegoated,’ like, only bad teams and losers panic in Game 12 of an 82-game season with 70 games left.”
Green acknowledges the fact that the Warriors need quite an overhaul, especially after coming off an ugly road loss to the OKC Thunder. That loss dropped the Warriors’ season record to 6-6, while currently standing at 9-6. But you can always expect Draymond Green to take accountability from basketball side of things, even if it means admitting some of the harsh realties or taking a stand for his teammates and the franchise.
