Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young is getting mixed reactions from onlookers after his team’s most recent regular-season game. On Saturday, Dec. 27, Young and the rest of coach Quin Snyder’s 2025-26 Hawks faced coach Mike Brown’s New York Knicks on their home floor, the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
On Sunday, @houseofhighlights uploaded a clip on Instagram from the intense affair, showing Young taking a free throw. However, what was surprising to many was the fact that Young was getting booed in his home arena by what many assumed was the Knicks’ faithful.
“Knicks fans traveled WELL to Atlanta for their match-up vs. Hawks. 😳🤯,” @houseofhighlights on Instagram captioned with a couple of emojis.

Fans online reacted to Young’s struggles against the Knicks.
“Nine points had to be incredibly embarrassing,” one user pointed out.

“And had a whopping nine points lol,” another user wrote.

“7-18 against the Knicks. All he has is some random a** tournament game and a playoff series 5 years ago with a Julius Randle-led team,” a user commented.

Here are a few other reactions:
“I was at the game. The amount of Knicks fans & how loud they were, felt like I was at MSG😂,” one user said with a laughing emoji.

“It was insane to witness,” another user shared.

“Are we still dragging out this Trae Young ‘rivalry,'” another fan questioned.

“Never change Knicks fans,” a user pleaded with an emoji.

The rivalry between Young and the Knicks stems from the 2021 NBA Playoffs, wherein Young led his Atlanta-based team to defeat New York en route to his lone Eastern Conference Finals appearance. Apart from this, the Hawks and the Knicks have matched up intensely over the past couple of years, as they are considered heavyweights in their conference.

Unfortunately for Trae Young and the rest of the Atlanta Hawks faithful, coach Quin Snyder’s team was unable to defeat their conference rivals, the New York Knicks, in their most recent regular-season affair, losing 128-125.
Young, in particular, struggled from the field, as he just had nine points on a lowly 2-for-9 clip, but did have 10 assists and two steals in 31 minutes of action.
