Baylor commit Tounde Yessoufou impressed fans with his elite athleticism in a video from the Nike Hoop Summit this week, drawing comparisons to NBA star Anthony Edwards.
The 18-year-old McDonald’s All-American forward, who hails from Benin and plays high school basketball at St. Joseph High School in Santa Maria, Calif., committed to Baylor in November after heavy interest from top programs across the country.

Yessoufou, a 5-star recruit, is ranked No. 14 nationally, No. 2 among small forwards and No. 4 overall in California.
The 6’6″ forward was recruited by Kentucky, Tennessee, UConn, California, Utah, Washington State, UC Santa Barbara, Portland, and Cal Poly and took visits to Arizona State, USC, Arizona, and Washington before choosing Baylor.
After a recent hype video went viral, it’s easy to see why he was so highly coveted.

Who Is Tounde Yessoufou?
Yessoufou made an early splash in his high school debut against Pioneer Valley High School, scoring 20 points and ending the game with a backboard-breaking dunk in the third quarter.
Yessoufou later led St. Joseph to the Alaska Airlines Classic title, earning tournament MVP honors with 21 points, eight rebounds and three blocks in the championship game, helping snap East Anchorage High School’s 35-game win streak.
As a freshman, Yessoufou shot 61% from the field, averaging 26.4 points, 12.3 rebounds, 2.9 blocks and 2.1 steals per game. He led St. Joseph to a 27-4 record and an appearance in the CIF Central Section Open Division title game. He was named Mountain League MVP and Santa Maria Times All-Area MVP.
During the offseason, he played for Team WhyNot, including appearances in the Peach Jam U15 tournament.

Yessoufou took another step forward as a sophomore, averaging 27.8 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.3 blocks and 3.7 steals per game. St. Joseph reached the Open Division state championship game but fell to Harvard-Westlake School.
He again earned Mountain League MVP and Santa Maria Times All-Area MVP honors.
