LeBron James or Michael Jordan? It’s the age-old and probably the most divisive question in the history of basketball. Both legends of the game deserve to be in the conversation for the greatest basketball player to grace the sport.
People who witnessed Jordan live or players who framed their basketball around his game often tend to favor MJ in the debate. Similarly, LeBron also receives support from his teammates and the people who have watched his career unfold over the past 20 years.
However, one of LeBron James’ teammates and friends, Dwyane Wade, has always looked at Michael Jordan as his idol. He has often said in public that MJ is the GOAT. Recently, however, Wade changed his opinion and revealed what he would say to people when he is asked the ultimate question.
“Michael Jordan is my basketball goat. Right. For all the reasons that he should be. But I do have a new answer for the way I’m going to start answering the question when people ask me. I’m going to say Michael Jordan is the greatest player. I’ve ever watched. He is the greatest player I have I’ve ever watched. Okay. LeBron James is the greatest player I’ve ever seen,” Wade said (1:13:18).
“I got this in my notes in my phone for a while. It clicked to me one night and I was like I never saw Michael Jordan. I watched Michael Jordan. Yeah. I saw and I’ve seen LeBron James up close and person I played against and I played with I’ve never seen I personally yo have not seen a greater basketball player, but I’ve watched a great basketball player,” Wade added.
“And so to me it’s just a difference. And the debate will forever be a debate. It’s not going anywhere. But when I’m asked a question as someone who’s played with this man, who spent time with this man and played against this man. Yeah, I’ve watched Jordan’s greatness. I still watch it. I go on YouTube right now like I’ve never seen it before, but I’ve never seen Jordan’s greatness up close. I’ve actually seen LeBron’s,” Dwyane Wade explained.
Dwyane Wade Talks About Stephen Curry
In the same video, Dwayne Wade commented on another great player, Stephen Curry.
“I wasn’t paying attention. I wasn’t looking for it to come. One of the greatest players, right, to play and um, he’s been with Under Armour for 13 years that it would that it can that the deal can come to an end, but it did and and it has. And so, um, I think it’s cool though. I think it’s cool. I don’t think every relationship is meant to go to the finish line,” Wade said.
