Stanley Borden is on the move, changing from the Duke Blue Devils to the UTSA Roadrunners this offseason. Borden spent four seasons in Durham but played only five games in the last three, all as a substitute.
His biggest contribution to Duke came in the 2024-2025 season, when he played a career-high three minutes against Florida State. Borden shared the news of his move on his Instagram account on Thursday, writing in the post’s caption:
“Birds Up! Grateful for the opportunity and excited to get to work 🤙🤙🤙.”
An international student, originally from Turkey, Stanley Borden seemed more interested in academics than sports during his time at Duke. He is a computer science major who speaks five languages. Borden was a four-time letter winner for the Blue Devils and received an Engaged Athlete Fellowship. He graduated from Duke in May of this year.
At Duke, he launched an initiative called ‘Stanley’s Symposium Series,’ which covered wide-ranging topics like the conflict in Gaza, potential applications of CRISPR technology, judicial and immigration reform, and US foreign policy.
In 2023, the ACC recognized him as a member of Duke’s Top Six for Service Award for coordinating a race on the school’s campus, which served as a fundraiser for earthquake relief in Turkey and Syria.
With videos of him playing the saxophone and the piano, Borden went viral on social media at the start of his college career.

Duke set to travel to East Lansing in December
The Blue Devils are set to face the Michigan State Spartans on December 6. The schools confirmed the date for the encounter this week, though coverage and schedule details have yet to be determined.
The encounter will close a two-game series, which started in 2020 as part of the Champions Classic. The Spartans won the encounter 75-69 in December of that year in Durham. The last time Michigan State hosted Duke at the Breslin Center was in December 2019, when the Blue Devils won 87-75.
Michigan State and Duke have met a total of 19 times, with the Blue Devils leading the series 15-4. This will be a premier non-conference encounter, with Duke finishing last season ranked No. 3 in the AP Poll and Michigan State No. 7.
