The 2025 NBA draft did not play out like Drake’s Mitch Mascari would have liked. It was not a shock for him not to be drafted, but he was likely still disappointed. He is coming off a strong senior season for the Bulldogs, where he averaged 9.4 points, 2.2 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.4 steals per game. He is best known for his shooting ability, shooting 42.4% on nearly 600 career 3-point attempts.
Despite his impressive resume, he was not drafted. However, that does not mean he did not get the attention of any NBA teams. According to a report from insider Jon Chepkevich, Mascari will join the Phoenix Suns for the NBA Summer League.
“Drake’s Mitch Mascari will join the Phoenix Suns for the NBA Summer League, per his agent George Langberg of GSL Sports Group. The 6’5” sniper has drained 42.4% of nearly 600 career attempts from three. Two-time DII national champion and critical piece for the 31-win MVC champs.”

The report did not indicate whether Mascari is signing a contract with the Suns or if he will only be joining the team for the Summer League. Players do not need to sign standard player contracts to join the Summer League. They can participate in Summer contracts, which are separate from standard NBA contracts.
Drake Sharpshooter Mitch Mascari Joins Phoenix for Summer League After Its Strong Draft
The Phoenix Suns are improving on an already strong draft class by adding Drake sharpshooter Mitch Mascari to their Summer League roster. The Suns got a good start to the draft by adding Duke center Khaman Maluach with the 10th pick in the first round. Maluach was not expected to still be available at that point, so it was a positive pickup for the Suns.
The Suns then performed well in the second round. They added Rasheer Fleming with the first pick in the second round, someone who many experts viewed as one of the best players left on the board after the first round. They then added Koby Brea with the 41st pick in the draft.
ESPN released an article on Thursday night after the draft concluded, giving a letter grade to all 30 teams for their draft performance. They gave Phoenix a B.
