Milwaukee Bucks coach Doc Rivers recently commended one of the stars of their recent opponents. On Monday, Dec. 29, Rivers and his 2025-26 Bucks squad defeated coach Charles Lee’s Charlotte Hornets 123-113 in the latter’s home arena, the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.
In a video that was posted by writer Rod Boone on X/Twitter, Rivers was asked about his thoughts on the stellar play of Hornets guard LaMelo Ball, who dropped 26 points, two rebounds, seven assists, and a steal in 29 minutes of playing time against the Bucks. Rivers said that the young talent can be effective in a multitude of ways.
“ Just creative. I mean, the guy’s so skilled, so talented. The game almost comes too easy for him, you know, his passing. You know, it’s funny when you go in a game, you don’t know if he’s gonna be a three-point shooter that night or is he just gonna be, you know, a point guard to get everybody else involved; and you have to get in the game and find out which way he’s going. He’s that talented so,” Rivers explained.
Asked Doc Rivers about LaMelo. He said what makes him so tough to guard is you don’t know if he’s going to come out and be a 3-point shooter that particular night or be more of a distributor.

Rivers is currently in his second year of coaching the Bucks after previous stints with the Philadelphia 76ers, the Boston Celtics, and the Los Angeles Clippers. The tenured tactician is looking to win his second NBA title, previously winning it all the way back in 2008. For Ball, he is likely looking to stay healthy for a longer period of time so that he can be named an NBA All-Star once again come February.
The Milwaukee Bucks Defeated The Charlotte Hornets By 10 Points
Despite the concerns Doc Rivers had with LaMelo Ball that could have drastically shifted the game against them, the Milwaukee Bucks managed to defeat the Charlotte Hornets in away territory by 10 points, 123-113.
Now backed by a current record of 14-19, Milwaukee is aiming to continue its winning ways against the Washington Wizards on Wednesday, Dec. 31.
