Delaware forward John Camden has narrowed his list of transfer destinations to six schools: Purdue, Mississippi State, SMU, California, Oklahoma State, and Grand Canyon, according to On3. Camden, who has played for Memphis, Virginia Tech, and Delaware, is seeking his fourth collegiate program.
Camden successfully developed his basketball skills during the 2024-25 season at Delaware following marginal performance at Memphis and Virginia Tech.
Camden played 36 games in the 2024-25 season after which he averaged 16.8 points while collecting 5.5 rebounds and making 2.1 assists per game.
This performance exceeded his totals from his previous playing time which amounted to only 38 total games combined. Field goal and three-point percentage statistics stood out for Camden at 46.9% and 41.6% respectively.
Delaware finished the season with a 16-20 record, but Camden’s performance highlighted his potential on a larger stage. His next team will look for similar success as he steps into a new chapter in his career. Camden previously showed promise at Brewster Academy (Wolfeboro, NH), where he was ranked as a three-star recruit by 247 Sports and ESPN in the Class of 2021.
The transfer portal officially opened on March 24 and will close on April 22. Over 1,000 players have entered the portal, continuing the trend from last year, when more than half of college basketball’s points were scored by transfer players. Camden, whose time at Delaware marked his breakout, is hoping for continued success at a higher-profile school.
