Michigan’s standout center Danny Wolf has officially entered his name into the 2025 NBA draft pool, announcing his decision to forgo remaining eligibility. The Wolverines’ big man guided his team to conference tournament success and an NCAA Tournament run that extended to the tournament’s second weekend during Coach May’s inaugural season at the Michigan helm.
The announcement comes amid viral footage of Wolf showcasing his perimeter shooting skills, hitting impressive three-pointers in-game action. The viral video evidence of Wolf knocking down three-pointers in competitive action reinforces what scouts have been saying all season. His fluid shooting motion and comfort level operating on the perimeter represent his 7-foot frame, giving him a skill set that few players his size possess at the collegiate level.
When speaking with ESPN, Wolf expressed how the season surpassed all expectations, describing the team’s collective success. He acknowledged the uncertainty of joining a completely rebuilt roster and new coaching staff. Still, he credited Coach May for implementing an innovative development plan that allowed him to showcase his natural abilities within a tailored offensive system.
The former Yale transfer averaged 13.2 points, 9.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.4 blocks per game while earning second-team All-Big Ten honors. His development under May’s system allowed him to showcase a skill set that translated to winning basketball, helping the Wolverines capture the Big Ten tournament title.
Wolf also revealed to ESPN the meticulous preparation that began last summer, describing how the coaching staff experimented with lineups featuring him alongside fellow seven-footer Vlad Goldin.
He mentioned studying NBA film with Coach May, analyzing skilled big men like Markkanen, Sengun, and Towns, particularly focusing on how they operated alongside traditional centers like Gobert. Despite initial hesitations about this approach, Wolf noted that May’s clear vision and confidence in his abilities ultimately proved successful.
