Cooper Flagg will be entering this week’s 2025 NBA draft as the favorite to be picked No. 1 overall, and he has already gotten the respect from several NBA legends. One of them is Philadelphia 76ers legend Allen Iverson, who met Flagg in a parking lot and dapped up the Duke star.
“That’s a bad dude right there,” Iverson said upon seeing Cooper Flagg in a parking lot. “That’s a bad guy! What’s up baby?”

The Reebok vice president of basketball operations then hugged the probably No. 1 pick and wished him luck before leaving. Iverson also told Flagg that he loves seeing him play, and this would be a big boost for Flagg’s confidence as he enters the draft.
As for Cooper Flagg, he shared the reel on his Instagram Stories, being really excited to meet the NBA legend.
Cooper Flagg may possibly be drafted by the Dallas Mavericks, which has the No. 1 overall pick for this year’s draft. It is quite possible that the Mavs, which are currently rebuilding, build a team around Flagg after trading off superstar Luka Doncic to the LA Lakers for Anthony Davis. He led Duke to the Final Four and did a lot for the Blue Devils in his freshman year there.
As for Allen Iverson, the NBA legend was best known for his time with the Philadelphia 76ers. While he was not the biggest player on the court, the 6’0 guard built a reputation as one of the greatest scorers in NBA history.
Cooper Flagg’s possible coach compares him to another NBA legend
From one NBA legend to another, Cooper Flagg has been getting a lot of attention from then, especially from the man who holds his fate in his hands, Jason Kidd. The NBA legend and Dallas Mavericks head coach reportedly compared Flagg to another NBA legend who was also a Duke player. According to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon, Kidd compared Flagg to Detroit Pistons legend Grant Hill.
“There’s a buzz about Cooper Flagg. I’m told Jason Kidd sees shades of another Duke guy in Cooper Flagg, a guy who J-Kidd shared the Rookie of the Year Award with, Grant Hill. Cooper Flagg is really gonna have a chance, especially early in the season when Kyrie Irving’s out, to play a point forward type of game.” McMahon said.
“He’s gonna have the ball in his hands a lot, and J-Kidd thinks he can facilitate,” he added.
Hill was one of the most hyped players in the 1990s but was hampered by injuries. However, during his first six years in the NBA, he averaged 21.6 points per game and was named to the NBA All-Star Game five times.
