Dave & Busters commemorated the moment by publishing a reel of the player’s exploits at the location.

“How do you celebrate when you’re the #1 draft pick? Go to @daveandbusters Times Square, of course.”

“Play like Cooper on NBA Hoops and DM @daveandbusters a photo of your score using #DBFlaggChallenge to win exclusive autographed @dallasmavs merch. Check our last post for full rules & details.”

In June, Cooper Flagg became the second-youngest first overall pick of the NBA Draft, with only LeBron James having been picked younger than him. Flagg is arriving at a strong franchise in the Dallas Mavericks, with the roster already including stars like Anthony Davis, Kyrie Irving (A Duke alumnus himself), and Klay Thompson.

They also have a strong coach in Jason Kidd, a Hall of Fame point guard who was the second overall pick by the Mavericks three decades ago. Fellow Duke alumnus Dereck Lively II is also on the roster.

“He’s very lucky to have veterans, future Hall of Famers,” said coach Jason Kidd during Flagg’s presentation press conference. “When you talk about Kai and Klay and then AD, just understanding the vets are going to protect him and help him, and they’re going to push him.”

Cooper Flagg signs rookie contract with Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks have signed their star rookie, Cooper Flagg, to a four-year contract deal. The news was announced by the franchise on Wednesday, although the details of the deal weren’t disclosed. However, according to Yahoo Sports, the contract is expected to be worth around $62.7 million, and the first-year salary should be about $13.8 million.

Cooper Flagg is expected to see his first NBA minutes in Summer League in Las Vegas later this month, as he shared his interest in partaking during his presentation press conference.

The Mavericks have a blockbuster Summer League opener against the Los Angeles Lakers, which is likely to feature LeBron James’ son, Bronny James. The game will be televised nationally on July 10.
