‘Im Trying To Look Like You’: Cooper Flagg Credits 76ers’ $19,400,000 Man For Inspiration Behind New Look

Cooper Flagg revealed his inspiration for his look on NBA Draft night on Wednesday, June 25. The No. 1 pick spoke to former Duke teammate Jared McCain on the red carpet before the start of the event.

Flagg and McCain met up on the red carpet and embraced. In a video posted by Duke Men’s Basketball on Instagram, McCain asked how the young forward was feeling before pointing out a new part of his look.

“You got the goatee a little bit,” McCain said.

”Hey, I’m trying to look like you, man,” Flagg replied.

After their comical greeting, the former Blue Devils jumped into a Q&A round. McCain took the red carpet for this year’s NBA Draft to interview prospects with New Era. The Philadelphia 76ers guard asked Flagg what he would do with the New Era cap that he would receive from his new team before revealing that he has his in a glass case at home.

“I’ll probably get it framed,” Flagg said.

Cooper Flagg selected No. 1 overall in 2025 NBA draft

As widely projected, Cooper Flagg was the No. 1 pick to the Dallas Mavericks in this year’s NBA Draft. Flagg was the top-ranked player in his high school class and was the projected top pick since mock drafts started being created last year. His dominant freshman campaign at Duke further instilled confidence that he has the talent of a top overall pick.

In his sole college season, Flagg led the Blue Devils in every major stat category, as he led the team to the top seed in the NCAA Tournament and a March Madness run to the Final Four. He became one of just four freshmen in history to be named the National Player of the Year.

Flagg was recently in Dallas to meet with the Mavericks, tour the team facilities, and participate in a workout. When the first pick rolled around, Dallas drafted the former Duke star, who will aim to make an immediate impact on the Mavericks.
