While Cooper Flagg and Dylan Harper may be locked in for the No. 1 and No. 2, the next picks may get unpredictable. This is the situation that South Carolina Gamecock Collin Murray-Boyles finds himself in, as some mock drafts have him go as early as the Top 10, while others have him near the 20s. To add to the chaos, the Kevin Durant trade threw a lot of things in the loop, and Murray-Boyles might get involved.
The South Carolina forward can play the three and four positions and is an elite defender with plenty to develop. This can make teams want to pick him up as soon as possible, and here are the teams that he may land on:
Minnesota Timberwolves
The Wolves have the No. 17 overall pick, and they may get Murray-Boyles and turn him into an undersized big man. The Gamecock excelled in pick-and-roll plays, and he may develop this further at Minnesota, though this might not happen if he gets picked much earlier than 17.
Portland Trailblazers
Portland has the No, 11 pick, and the Trailblazers might be one of the earliest teams to draft Collin Murray-Boyles. The team has hosted the South Carolina forward in a private workout session and things look promising. Portland could use his versatility and toughness, as well as his excellent defensive ability.
San Antonio Spurs
With Victor Wembanyama, Collin Murray-Boyles can play fully as a four because the big Frenchman’s presence is imposing enough to allow an undersized power forward. Murray-Boyles has shown that he can hang with taller players in the four spot, and can add a unique piece of offense for Coach Pop and crew, to add with Wemby’s own offensive and defensive prowess.
Washington Wizards
Collin Murray-Boyles might go as late as becoming picked in the early 20s. However, the Washington Wizards might pick him up as the No. 18 pick, giving the Wizards a versatile forward who can go small forward but also play power forward if needed.
Phoenix Suns
In the Kevin Durant trade, one of the things that the Houston Rockets gave to Phoenix in exchange for the NBA legend is the No. 10 pick. That pick can possibly select Collin Murray-Boyles to go to Phoenix via Houston.
At Phoenix, the South Carolina standout might fill that huge gap that Kevin Durant is leaving behind. Those are some pretty big shoes to fill, however, but the Suns may get him and the recently traded Jalen Green to kick off their recruitment process.
