Coaching Carousel 2025: Full List of New Hires and Shifting Positions Across Top College Basketball Programs.

The 24/25 college basketball season is coming to an end. Take a look at programs that have replaced their head coaches.

A head coach’s job is fragile, as coaches take the fall for every failure. It is easier to discard the head coach than to empty a roster of underperforming players. Let’s look at college programs that have changed their head coaches ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The first coaching change of the men’s college basketball season happened in Nov. when Virginia’s Tony Bennett retired and Amir Abdul Rahman’s sudden death at South Florida. Since then, multiple programs have fired and replaced their head coaches.

Florida State appointed Luke Loucks, Alex Jensen left the Dallas Mavericks to become Utah’s new head coach, and Miami has appointed Duke’s assistant Jai Lucas.

On the first day of First Four games in the 2025 NCAA tournament, Indiana announced  Darian DeVries as new head coach from West Virginia, Will Wade joined NC State after McNeese were eliminated from the NCAA tournament in the round of 32, Sean Miller went to Texas after Rodney Terry was fired.
