“That’s Unacceptable”: Carmelo Anthony’s Son Kiyan Anthony Left Frustrated Over Disappointing Del State Performance

Kiyan Anthony, the son of NBA legend Carmelo Anthony, is not too excited about his performance in his second college basketball game, despite it being respectable. On Saturday, Nov. 8, Kiyan and the rest of coach Adrian Autry’s Syracuse Orange faced coach Stan Waterman’s Delaware State Hornets on their home court, the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, New York.

In a video posted by @sportscenternext on Instagram, Kiyan Anthony was interviewed post-game and was asked how he thought he fared in his second collegiate hoops matchup. Despite putting up an excellent outing, as deemed by many onlookers, the younger Anthony showed grit by claiming that he is not yet satisfied with his current play.

“ Little things, like a couple of shots I could have made that I missed. Free throws, I missed three free throws, that’s unacceptable. So I just got to, you know, get in the gym after this, do some free throws and just fix the little things,” Anthony shared.

“Even after Kiyan Anthony dropped 19 pts, he focused on his missed FTs rather than the win ‼️,” @sportscenternext on Instagram captioned with an emoji.

Ultimately, Kiyan Anthony finished with 19 points on a highly-efficient 8-for-11 overall clip, to go along with three rebounds, four assists, and a steal in 29 minutes of playing time en route to the 40-point, 83-43 victory. This performance would have impressed his father and former NBA All-Star, Carmelo Anthony, who led Syracuse to its lone national title all the way back in 2003.

Prior to this, Kiyan Anthony played his first game of his college tenure on Monday, Nov. 3, versus coach Levell Sanders’ Binghamton Bearcats. In that matchup, he put up 15 points on 6-of-10 overall shooting, three rebounds, and three assists in 29 minutes of action. The Orange won that game by an astounding 38 points, 85-47, for their first win of the campaign.
