IN PIC: Carmelo Anthony’s Ex La La Makes a Special Stop at Kiyan’s School Syracuse, Links Up With Legendary Coach Boeheim

La La Anthony, the ex-wife of NBA legend Carmelo Anthony, recently watched her son, Kiyan, in one of his Syracuse Orange practice sessions. On Thursday, July 3, La La Anthony uploaded a series of Instagram stories that showcase Kiyan Anthony in the school’s practice facility, which is Carmelo Anthony’s alma mater. Kiyan committed to play for the Orange back in November of 2024.

Among La La Anthony’s Instagram story uploads was a picture of her and former Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim. Boeheim was one of the longest tenured college basketball coaches in history, as he was at the helm of the program’s coaching staff for around 46 years from 1976 to 2023. He coached Carmelo Anthony during his time at Syracuse, as La La Anthony was all smiles when she reunited with him.

“Hanging at Syracuse today with the legend himself, Coach Boeheim,” La La Anthony wrote with an orange emoji.

La La Anthony’s other Instagram stories then include clips of Kiyan Anthony working on his game in the Syracuse practice facility. In the videos, Anthony is captured working on his handles, stamina and outside shooting.

Currently, Anthony is ranked as the 36th best prospect as a four-star recruit in the high school class of 2025. After wrapping up his outstanding high school hoops career at Long Island Lutheran High School, Anthony is now looking to replicate the kind of success his father, Carmelo, had at Syracuse. The program’s lone NCAA championship in 2003 came by way of Anthony’s historic one-and-done stint, wherein he was the MOP.

Later on her Instagram stories, La La Anthony then uploaded a video of herself trying to guard Anthony as the latter was wrapping up his practice session. Unfortunately for the 43-year-old, she was not able to contain her son as Kiyan Anthony pulled up from the three-point line after sizing his mother up and made the three-pointer.

“I never stood a chance,” La La Anthony captioned with several laughing emojis.

Anthony now heads into the 2025-26 season for his first year of college basketball with coach Adrian Autry’s Syracuse Orange. In the 2024-25 season, the Orange finished with an overall record of 14-19 (7-13, ACC). Syracuse did not make the 2025 NCAA tournament and were eliminated in the second round of this year’s ACC tournament by the SMU Mustangs through a 20-point defeat, 73-53.
