Carmelo Anthony’s son Kiyan to follow in his footsteps at Syracuse

The Anthony name is coming back to Syracuse. In November, Kiyan Anthony announced his commitment to play basketball at Syracuse, the same place his dad Carmelo honed his skill set.

Carmelo spent his sole college season with the Orange from 2002-03 and led the program to its only national championship title. He was then selected as third overall pick by the Denver Nuggets in the 2003 NBA Draft.

His son, a top-40 recruit, announced on his dad’s podcast “7PM in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony & Kid Mero” that he too would be playing for Syracuse.

“You’ve got a chance to put the school and the community and New York back to where it’s supposed to be,” Carmelo told Kiyan. “You the only one [that] can do it, you did it the right way, you went through the struggle, you went through every level of development as a player, as a young man.”

Kiyan will look to return Syracuse basketball to the greatness it experienced with Carmelo when he begins his college career this fall.
