The Lakers registered their fifth win of the season against the Miami Heat. In a high-scoring 130-120 win at home, Bronny James had a highlight-worthy moment. The 21-year-old scored his first points of the season.
James has played four games this season so far. In the first three outings, he went scoreless despite getting ample playing time, especially against Portland. The guard was on the floor for 20 minutes but could only manage three rebounds and three assists.
In the matchup against Miami, James once again got to spend some time on the floor. This time, he played for 18 minutes and walked away with two points. His only successful field goal attempt came off an Austin Reaves alley-oop, and the internet went berserk.

“First time bron stood up on the bench all szn,” a fan wrote.
“That was an amazing oop. Now if we can just get more game points from Bronny, things will look a lot better,” a fan wrote.
“Im sure that felt better to LeBron than that that bubble championship!” A fan wrote.
“Gotta be top tier father moment,” a fan wrote.
“Gotta give it to Bronny — man’s showing progress, went from 0 to 0.5 PPG,” a fan trolled the 21-year-old guard.
With James finally opening his scorecard for the season, the Lakers fans can expect him to have better games going forward. The 2024 second round, 55th pick hasn’t had the easiest time in the league so far because of the media scrutiny that he faces.
Being the son of LeBron James has its pros and cons, and so far, James has experienced most of the cons in his NBA career.
Bronny James on Dealing with Criticism
No other NBA rookie, especially one who was a late second-round pick, has faced the kind of scrutiny James has. Those who wanted to give him time to figure out his role in the Lakers rotation wondered how he was managing to stay calm amid the outpour of criticism.
During a conversation with The Athletic in March 2025, James talked about his strategy when it comes to dealing with criticism.
“My first thought about everything is I always try to just let it go through one ear and out the other, put my head down and come to work and be positive every day,” Bronny said. “But sometimes it just, it fuels me a little bit.”
James stated that he sees everything that is being said about him in the media, and sometimes things manage to get under his skin. But his role, especially this early in his career, is to block the outside noise and work on his game.
