The Auburn men’s basketball team has had an impressive run of success in recent years. The Tigers have qualified for March Madness in each of the past four seasons, including a Final Four appearance this past season. While they lost to the Florida Gators 79-73, it was still a stellar season for them.
Now the Tigers are preparing for the 2025-26 season, seeking to improve on their Final Four appearance. Notably, they have never advanced beyond the Final Four in the NCAA tournament.
While the team is preparing, the social media team likes to have fun. On Saturday, the Auburn basketball X account posted a clip of many of the players talking about the song of the summer. The first player made a funny reference to the reality TV show, “Love Island.”
“Song of the summer, that’s Love Island. How’s that song come on?” one player said.
Several players appeared in the video, with many mentioning different songs. Rap songs were most commonly selected by the players, with many singing briefly before laughing and leaving the video.
“What’s everyone got on their summer playlist?”

Auburn Head Coach Bruce Pearl Explains How He Built His Roster
After the 2024-25 season, there was a lot of uncertainty around Auburn’s roster. Most notably, star Tahaad Pettiford initially entered the 2025 NBA draft before choosing to withdraw and return to the Tigers. In June, head coach Bruce Pearl spoke about building his roster despite the uncertainty around Pettiford on “The Sideline with Andy Katz” podcast.
“That’s one of the hard things about doing it,” Pearl said. “We got lucky in the sense that him coming back obviously helped complete the roster a little bit.” (8:00)
Pearl then spoke about how the team was ready to sign some international players if Pettiford opted to start his NBA career.
“We had a couple of international kids that were ready,” Pearl said. “We had a couple of international guys that were a little bit older, a little bit more experienced, that were ready to go if he stayed in the draft.”
As per Bruce Pearl, the inclusion of international players is a positive step for college basketball due to their experience.
