Allen Iverson Denies Iconic Moment vs Michael Jordan As His Best Highlight: “I’ve Done People Way Worse”

NBA legend and former Philadelphia 76ers superstar Allen Iverson has said that his iconic crossover on NBA great Michael Jordan is not his best highlight. On Wednesday, Oct. 22, Iverson appeared on NFL standouts Travis and Jason Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast. Iverson was asked about the moment when he crossed over six-time NBA champion Jordan as a rookie back in 1997.

In a regular-season game during the 1996-97 campaign, Iverson and the 76ers hosted Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. In one play, Iverson found himself being guarded by Jordan. He crossed Jordan over to the right, pulled up, and made a deep mid-range shot over him. Despite this move being hailed by many as his best highlight, Iverson feels he has done better.

“No, no. I mean I’ve done people way worse…Way worse. But if you think about it, you know what I mean? Y’all know a highlight, you have to make the shot or you’re not going to see it on ESPN. You’re not going to see it on the highlights. So, it’s a lot of things I’ve done to people and didn’t make the shot, you know what I mean? That was way worse than that crossover. “Like Mike got it, but he didn’t get it worse. You reach, I teach,” Iverson said (1:28:43).

“No, just back up and don’t try to beat me to the spot. If you don’t want to get hit by it, just let me go by you. If you try to beat me to that spot, then you gon’ stay there and Imma be somewhere else,” he added.

Iverson went on to become that season’s Rookie of the Year awardee and enjoyed an iconic NBA career afterwards. During his 14-year tenure, Iverson was the 2001 NBA regular season MVP, an 11-time NBA All-Star, a three-time member of the All-NBA First Team, and famously led Philadelphia to the 2001 NBA Finals, where they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers, 4-1.

Allen Iverson Reveals How He Feels Whenever He Misses The Shot On A Highlight

In the same interview with the Kelce brothers, Allen Iverson was asked if any of his highlights could’ve been his iconic, where he missed the shot.

The 50-year-old did not narrow it down to one play but said (1:29:45):

“Oh, yeah, for sure. Oh, yeah, but like damn, your friends and your family like, ‘Man, you missed the shot, like damn.’ They at the game, they at the game. So, you know what I mean? And then, everybody, a lot of people try to lie especially the guys that played the game, they lie and say they don’t go watch the games after they play them…Especially if you play a good one.”
