IN PICS: $4.1M NIL Star AJ Dybantsa Honors July 4th With Powerful Flag-Wrapped Image

BYU signee AJ Dybantsa is one of the top recruits in the 2025 class. While some media outlets believe Kansas’ Darryn Peterson is the better prospect, they are viewed nearly unanimously as the top two recruits in their class. Dybantsa is joining a Cougars team that will be looking to go on its first deep March Madness run in years.

Dybantsa, who has an NIL value of $4.1 million, is often active on social media. On Friday, he celebrated the Fourth of July by posting a photo of himself wrapped in an American flag on Instagram. He did not write anything special for the caption, only including the American flag emoji.

AJ Dybantsa Helps Team USA in the FIBA U19 World Cup

It is fitting that AJ Dybantsa wrapped himself in the American flag in his Fourth of July Instagram post. Not only does it work as a celebration of American independence, but Dybantsa is currently representing the United States in the FIBA U19 World Cup. He has been a key member of the team as it competes against other young squads in the tournament.

On Wednesday, Dybantsa helped as Team USA dominated Jordan in the Round of 16 140-67 to advance to the quarterfinals, where they play Canada on Friday. It was a group effort against Jordan, and as a result, Dybantsa only had seven points. However, Dybantsa has been one of the team’s most effective scorers, averaging 14.3 points per game through the first four games of the tournament. He trails Koa Peat and Mikel Brown Jr. in team scoring.

There is a lot of hype around Dybantsa heading into next season. There is excitement both around the fan base and the coaching staff. On Monday’s episode of “BYU Sports Nation,” BYU assistant coach Will Voigt spoke about Dybantsa’s talent.

“I think everybody realizes the talent that’s there. As a staff, obviously, we’re trying to harness and develop that in certain areas, but he already brings to the table a lot of special things,” Voigt said. “So, to me, his competitive spirit has been really what I’ve been most impressed with.

“From day one, he’s come in, he’s worked hard, he’s played hard, he competes in everything that we’re doing. He’s brought a lot of maturity in that aspect that I wasn’t really prepared for.”

Dybantsa will try to help the Cougars get beyond the Sweet 16 in March Madness for the first time since 1981.
