BYU Cougars freshman standout AJ Dybantsa might have delivered the highlight of a season by slamming a put-back dunk in the first half against Abilene Christian. The moment arrived with 1:35 remaining in the first half, with BYU leading the game 39-33.
Dybantsa’s teammate took an open 3-point shot from the left side of the court. However, it bounced off the basket. Abilene Christian’s teammates were casual in their approach to the rebound, and Dybantsa maximized. He leaped over the defenders to get his hands on the ball and put it back right inside the basket for two points. He was hyped up after the dunk.

AJ Dybantsa’s Star Continues Rising As BYU Dominates
The BYU Cougars are off to a 10-1 start this season, entering Friday’s game, which they also appear to be winning as they are ahead 76-60 with 3:48 remaining in the game. The large credit for this stellar start must be given to AJ Dybantsa, who has been off to a flyer in his freshman season, further cementing his odds of getting picked first overall in the 2026 NBA draft.
Through 11 games, Dybantsa is averaging 21.1 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.3 assists while shooting 55.6% from the field. He secured BYU’s seventh straight win by recording a double-double in the dominating 93-57 win over Pacific. He scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
His performances have put him on the watchlist for several awards, including the Lute Olson Award Early Season Watch List.
