AJ Dybantsa Drops Behind Darryn Peterson and PJ Haggerty in EA Sports Game Prediction Draft

With EA Sports announcing the return of their College Basketball game, a lot of hoops fans have been hyped, even though the game would probably not be released until 2028. This would be the first time that the game would be released in the NIL era.

During the “Locked On College Basketball” podcast, Andy Patton and Isaac Schade discussed who will be the top-rated players for this season, as if the game will be released this year.

Patton and Schade revealed their most controversial take, and that is placing AJ Dybantsa behind his rival, Darryn Peterson. Notably, Dybantsa was No. 1, while Peterson was No. 2 in ESPN and On3’s final class rankings.

    Schade said:

“Number five is Cam Boozer at Duke, along, by the way, with his twin brother (Cayden), who didn’t make this list but he’s going to be great. And perhaps controversially, perhaps not because he’s been surpassed in some of the recruiting rankings. AJ Debansa at BYU with all his Marriott money comes in at number four on this list.” (8:30)

Kansas’ Darren Peterson comes in at number three,” Schade added.

Isaac Schade then placed PJ Haggerty, a returning player at No. 2, with Purdue’s Braden Smith at No. 1. The two returning players had excellent seasons last time and have shown much improvement.

As for AJ Dybantsa, the incoming BYU freshman is still playing for USA Basketball in Switzerland for the FIBA U19 World Cup. He was ranked No. 1 by ESPN and On3, but 247Sports had Darryn Peterson as their No. 1 in their final rankings. Some mock drafts also have Peterson as the No. 1 pick, while others have Dybantsa.

AJ Dybantsa and Darryn Peterson Scheduled To Collide Once During Big 12 Regular Season

Darryn Peterson and AJ Dybantsa’s rivalry played out during the high school regular season, with Peterson’s Prolific Prep beating Dybantsa’s Utah Prep on both occasions. This was a factor in Peterson’s rise up the rankings. However, Dybantsa can get his revenge on one regular season game between Kansas and BYU.

Dybantsa and the BYU Cougars will be visiting Darryn Peterson and the Kansas Jayhawks later this season, with an exact date for the showdown yet to be announced. This showdown has been highly anticipated, given their rivalry back in high school.

In the meantime, fans and analysts continue to debate which of them will be picked ahead of the other during next year’s NBA draft.
