Adou Thiero Reportedly Earns Big ‘Guarantee’ Pick at NBA Draft With Financial Benefits

Adou Thiero has officially decided to remain in the 2025 NBA Draft, closing the door on a return to college and beginning his transition to the professional level.

The 6’7″ forward spent last season at Arkansas after two years at Kentucky, following head coach John Calipari to Fayetteville before choosing to declare for the draft.

His physical assets have made him an intriguing name among scouts. And now, with the draft just weeks away, his decision to stay has reportedly come with significant upside, including a financial commitment from at least one NBA team.

Insider Reveals Second-Round Guarantee for Adou Thiero

During a recent episode of the Hog Hoops Report, Arkansas insider Kevin McPherson revealed that Thiero may have already secured a second-round guarantee in the upcoming draft. According to McPherson, sources close to the situation informed him of the development just days before Thiero made his draft announcement.

“I had a source tell me right before his announcement — maybe a couple of days before — that they’d heard he’d gotten a second-round guarantee,” McPherson said.

While details about which team made the offer and the exact pick range were not disclosed, McPherson explained that such guarantees typically come with financial assurances.

“That would likely translate to some kind of guaranteed money spread out over at least the first two years,” he said.

McPherson also noted that the specific terms of the guarantee may vary depending on where exactly Thiero is selected in the second round.

“That could mean a lot of different things based on how early in the second round or how mid-second round that might be,” he added.

Importantly, McPherson left open the possibility that Thiero could have received more than one commitment.

Size, Athleticism, and Defensive Prowess Make Adou Thiero an Intriguing NBA Prospect

Thiero’s blend of size, athleticism, and defensive versatility aligns with what many NBA teams are looking for in a wing player. His ability to guard multiple positions and bring consistent energy makes him valuable as a role player focused on defense.

McPherson highlighted this, saying, “I think he’s a guy that has a chance to be one of those special blue-collar specialists on defense for somebody.” He noted that many NBA organizations actively seek players with this defensive mindset.

During his lone season at Arkansas, Thiero averaged 15.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.6 steals per game, shooting 54.5% from the field. His efficiency and all-around contribution stand out for a player entering the draft.

With the 2025 NBA Draft approaching, Thiero’s stock remains steady.
