Taurus season is in full swing, and May babies are just DIFFERENT. For Arkansas’ big man, Malique Ewin, he’s a shining example, as rapper Quavo gave a birthday shoutout to the Razorback center.

Dynamic Arkansas Big Man Malique Ewin Received a Birthday Shoutout From Rap Superstar Quavo
Remember the Migos’ birthday song?
“Aye who birthday? Put yo’ hand up.” Well, for the Arkansas’ Malique Ewin, his hands were certainly up in the gym Tuesday morning.

As the big man was getting shots up during training, he was joined by rapper Quavo, one of the three iconic members of the Migos rap group.
Both Quavo and Ewin are from Lawrenceville, Georgia, a suburb outside Atlanta that has produced various talents over the years.
Athletes like former NFL defensive tackle Jonathan Babineaux and Atlanta Falcons quarterback Taylor Heineke, as well as actors and celebrities, grew up in Lawrenceville.
As a voice of southern rap culture, Quavo and the Migos have always shown love for their fellow Southerners and homegrown Atlanta residents. It’s no wonder the rapper would show love to Ewin, Arkansas’ newest center.
Quavo extended the love as he took to his IG story, posting a picture of Ewin with the words, “Happy Bday Lique MORE BLESSINGS!!!”.
The rapper also included a video of Ewin working on his jump shot at the free throw line.
Now 22 years old, Ewin is considered one of the top big men in college basketball.
Last season with the Florida State Seminoles, the big man averaged 14.2 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists. He shot a very efficient 59.6% from the field, which ranked tied for 18th in the nation.
The Lawrenceville product now takes his talents to Arkansas, a talented team led by legendary coach John Calipari. Last season, the Razorbacks finished with a record of 22-14.
While they finished 9th in the SEC, they would make noise during March Madness. The Razorbacks made it to the Sweet 16, led by forward Adou Thiero and guard Boogie Fland, the team’s leading scorers.
The Calipari-coached squad took out No. 7 seed Kansas in the first round, and No. 1 seed St. John’s in an epic battle against a Rick Patino-led Red Storm. However, they would lose in a heartbreaker to No. 3 seed Texas Tech, 85-83 in overtime.
Coach Calipari knew he had a lot of work to do this offseason, especially with his top two scorers in Thiero and Fland declaring for the NBA draft.
As one of the top recruits in the nation coming out of high school, Ewin excels on both sides of the floor. He wears the jersey number 12 to honor his best friend, who is no longer with us.
His toughness and dynamic ability to stretch the floor enable him to utilize his size while displaying wing-like skills.
Ewin couldn’t be more excited to play for coach Calipari, stating, “I like their style of play. I will be able to screen, roll, or pop outside. I can also playmaker if needed.”

He continued, “I bring experience. I am willing to lead the younger players and I will continue learning from the returners — Coach Cal is a man of his word. When we talk, it’s about more than just basketball. The assistants are also great; they are very hands-on here. My goal is to help Arkansas win and, someday, play in the NBA.”
Coach Calipari has a rich history of producing big-man talent in the NBA. Players like Anthony Davis, Julius Randle, Karl-Anthony Towns, Bam Adebayo, and DeMarcus “Boogie” Cousins are all alumni of his coaching.
With 25 combined all-star appearances between the mentioned Calipari big men, “Flex” (Ewin’s nickname), has a promising future with upside to become the next Calipari produced NBA talent.
