Recently, actor and Texas alumnus Matthew McConaughey was seen standing with Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning at a preseason practice session.
The Oscar-winning actor, with a net worth of $160 million (as per Celebrity Net Worth), has been an advocate of the program over the years and is regularly seen at games and team functions. His visit to the camp was another that seemed to indicate a showing of support to Manning, who will be serving his first season as a starting QB under Steve Sarkisian.

Earlier this year, Arch Manning revealed that McConaughey had given him guidance on how to go about life in the spotlight.
In an interview with The Athletic at the Manning Passing Academy, the 21-year-old revealed the advise given to him by McConaughey.
“He’s way more known than I am, so it’s good anytime you get advice from him,” Arch Manning said. “He kind of told me you still have to live your life. He says he goes to the grocery store, walks down every aisle and he lives his life. You can’t let you taking a picture or signing an autograph affect your life.”

Cultural Influence around Arch Manning and What Lies Ahead in 2025
The encounter between Matthew McConaughey and Arch Manning is representative of the overlaps between Texas football culture, celebrity influence, and the desire to win a championship.
Manning, one of the most hyped quarterback recruits in recent years, takes over an offense in Texas stacked with talent. Receivers Johntay Cook II, Isaiah Bond, and Ryan Wingo, and a veteran offensive line with several returning starters, will all look to contribute.
The roster around Arch Manning is set to ensure he does not take long to make it in the second season of the program in the SEC.
Texas’ campaign begins on Aug. 30 at Ohio State, a CFP semifinal rematch of last season with the Buckeyes on their home field. Texas then returns home for a sequential stretch featuring San José State (Sept. 6), UTEP (Sept. 13), and Sam Houston (Sept. 27), providing a stage to potentially establish an offense before SEC play begins.
What follows, however, are road games against Florida (Oct. 4), Kentucky (Oct. 18), and Mississippi State (Oct. 25), three SEC road tests in one month.
In midseason, there is the Red River Rivalry against Oklahoma in Dallas on Oct. 11, which should always have some implications in this Big 12-turned-SEC era. Texas also hosts Vanderbilt on Nov. 1, Arkansas on Nov. 22, and the Thanksgiving weekend clash with Texas A&M on Nov. 29.
This timetable is not by chance. Sports Illustrated notes the 2025 schedule appears harder than it was last year with five games versus top-25 Football Power Index opponents, including road trips to Columbus and Athens. Any game would likely affect their College Football Playoff resume, because a perfect season probably will not be sufficient compared to the offseason hype accumulated.
