‘It Ain’t About Flash’: Mark Ingram II Puts Deion Sanders Under the Radar Ahead of the 2025 CFB Season

After a thrilling 2024 college football season that ended with a 9-4 record, Deion Sanders will now head to the 2025 season without his power weapons, Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, who are now fulfilling their NFL dreams.

This is Coach Prime’s third year at Colorado Buffaloes, and there will be pressure on him to prove himself and match last year’s success.

According to Bet MGM, Colorado is expected to take a step back this season and finish it with a 6 and a half in total, especially due to their tough schedule.

Discussing the Buffaloes’ fate in 2025, Urban Meyer, Mark Ingram II and Rob Stone gave their projections for the  season on “The Triple Option” podcast. Ingram II said:

“This is a credibility year for Deion’s coaches, you lose Travis, you lose your door, and now it ain’t about flash. It’s about coaching. It’s about leadership. It’s about teaching. It’s about adjusting. Like I said, they have those coaches, so like they I got faith in them.”

    He added:

“But, you know, I mean, it’s not about Instagram clips, it’s not about none of that. Not about celebrity power. Can you get this team looking like a football team that’s going to be through coaching? It’s not going to be through star power. It’s going to be building your roster, building the chemistry. And I have faith in the faith in this coach that he’s assembled. I think they’re going to do it, man.” (49:00)

Urban Meyer Weighs In on Deion Sanders’ Coaching Style

Deion Sanders is often known for his “flashy” nature and style, be it about his massive real estate, impressive cars or icy jewellery.

Colorado’s culture is also widely associated with that mindset, however, when, Meyer, visited their training facility, it changed his perspective.

Meyer admitted he first felt a bit uncomfortable seeing all the accessories, but, what he saw next, pleasantly surprised him. The 60-year-old shared that while the cars and all the flash is not him, he saw what was behind the scenes.

He talked about how the culture there was tough and so was Coach Prime. Meyer shared that the Colorado coach was really demanding of his players and it blew his mind.

“There’s a culture there. He is tough on man. There’s demanding of that team, and that’s what blew my mind.” (49:40 in the aforementioned video)

Deion Sanders’ Colorado will kickoff the 2025 college football season against Georgia Tech on Aug. 29.
